New Delhi, There is great news for the fans of the Tata Motors brand. The leading automaker has launched its CNG range Tata Tiago and Tata Tigor in the Indian market at an initial price of Rs 6,09,900. The company says that these cars are equipped with advanced iCNG technology. In the CNG car segment, Tata will compete with cars like Maruti WagonR and Hyundai Santro.
In terms of pricing, Tata Motors announced the i-CNG-powered Tiago and Tigor. Tata Tiago CNG price starts at Rs. 6.09 Lakh, while Tigor CNG price starts at Rs. 7.69 Lakh (both prices, ex-showroom, Delhi). With the Tiago CNG and Tigor CNG, Tata Motors became the third mass-market carmaker to offer factory-fitted CNG kits in its passenger vehicles, the others being Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai.
In terms of features, Tata Motors has also updated the top-spec XZ+ trim in both the Tiago and Tigor range. The Tiago XZ+ gets a new midnight plum color option with a dual-tone black and beige interior theme. The rest of the range has been given a black and gray interior theme as before. In terms of features, the 2022 Tigor now gets rain-sensing wipers and automatic headlamps on the XZ+ trim. Other interior changes on the Tigor XZ+ include new seat fabric and a dual-tone black and beige interior theme.
Coming to the engine, the Tiago CNG and Tigor CNG are powered by a 1.2-litre, three-cylinder Revotron petrol engine. The petrol engine generates 86hp power and 113Nm peak torque. On the other hand, if we talk about the engine of the CNG variant launched, its engine produces 73hp of power and 95Nm of peak torque. This means that there is a difference of 13hp power and 18Nm of peak torque between the respective petrol and CNG versions of the Tiago and Tigor. Additionally, despite the increased weight (approximately 100kgs), the ground clearance of the Tiago stands at 168mm while that of the Tigor is 165mm.
Transmission options on both models include only a 5-speed manual gearbox. The highlight of this CNG car is that the Tiago and Tigor CNG can be started directly in CNG mode, which is a feature that is not offered by any of its rivals.
